Unboxing the KiCA 3: First Impressions

The KiCA 3 comes in a standard white box—nothing fancy—with the most relevant information about the massage gun described on the backside.

The box feels heavy, which was a little unexpected but also an assuring first sign that we are not opening a toy device.

The box feels heavy, which was a little unexpected but also an assuring first sign that we are not opening a toy device.

Inside the box, there is a high-quality zipped plastic carry case. It resembles a hard-shell suitcase – minus the wheels. The brand name, KiCA, is stylishly embossed on the case.

In addition, the carry-case has a convenient strap affixed to one corner. A practical string appears from one corner, which helps carry and handle the case.

KiCA 3 Double-Head Mini Massage Gun

Opening the box, the first thing we noticed was the size. Despite adopting the same shape as the larger Theraguns, the Relief is smaller overall, and has a thinner grip. Externally, the massage device is made from quality plastic, but lacks a texturized grip.

It does not include an OLED screen and adopts the design concept of the Theragun Mini, featuring a single button to operate, along with three small LEDs to indicate the speed level and battery status during charging.

KiCA 3 Accessories

The KiCA 3 comes with an instruction booklet detailing the massage gun’s operation, precautions, and recommendations.

The KiCA is only equipped with a USB-C charging cable. To charge it, you will need a 5V/2A adapter like the ones for cellular phones.

You can find out more about KiCA by scanning the QR codes below.

KiCA 3 Attachments

As mentioned above, the Theragun Relief comes with three attachments.

Flat Head (Hard Plastic): Deeper Impact

This massage gun attachment is effective for soft tissues, achy joints, and muscles. Most senior people will appreciate its soothing massage.

Half-Spherical Head (Silicone): General Use

This one is harder and smaller than the Dumpener. It is a semi-soft attachment that can massage the entire body. It would be the universal attachment to target most muscles.

Gentle Head (Silicone): Targeted Circulation

The Micro-point Attachment is designed for targeted circulation and relief in smaller muscle areas. With a compact surface area and therapeutic micro-points, this attachment delivers a more focused treatment, providing increased stimulation where you need it most.

This is the only firm head in the set. It is also the smallest and perfect for trigger point therapy. This one would be ideal to use on the plantar.

The Device

The KiCA 3 is a compact, innovative massage gun designed to enhance muscle recovery and alleviate tension.

Upon first inspection of the KiCA 3 massage gun, we were pleased to see it is made of high-quality aviation aluminum – not plastic and finished in an attractive matte grey and blue color. KiCA’s logo is nicely embossed on the side of the handle.

The KiCA’s control panel is located opposite the double head – within easy reach of your thumb. There are no OLEDs, only two buttons. One of these buttons slides, allowing you to adjust the speed.

Three white LEDs indicate when the massage gun is turned on and the selected mode.

Kica 3: Power Button

A fourth LED turns red when the power is low or the battery is being charged. Once the battery has completed charging, the same LED will turn green. The charging port is located on the side of the control panel.

Below the percussion heads is a white button that allows you to pause the massage gun; a second press resumes the massage.

This is not a traditional massage gun! The KiCA 3 features two massage heads that work in turns. When the motor does half of a revolution, one head will contact your skin.

When the motor completes a revolution, then the other head contacts the skin.

Basically, the motor speed is max 2600 RPM, but the percussions per minute (PPM) are effectively doubled to 5,200 strokes per minute!

3 Totally Different Massage Modes | KiCA 3

From personal experience, generally, massage guns have a range of percussion, and the user can select between three and six predetermined speeds. Sometimes, they have preloaded modes that ramp up speed and then ramp down.

So, how is the KiCA 3 different?
Not only does the KiCA 3 have an impressive percussion range, but it also moves the two heads at three different paeces—and this, folks, is what makes KiCA unique!

Vibration mode (500 – 2600 RPM)

As with any small massage gun with an amplitude of 10 mm, it is expected to provide vibrational therapy. Each of the two heads’ speed range starts at 500 RPM and ends at 2600 RPM, but remember, you get double PPM.

However, the KiCA3 can feel percussive because of its low 500 percussion per minute (PPM) and excellent stall force.

This mode is suitable for muscle relaxation and pain relief.

Mode selector button.

Percussion mode (50 – 450 RPM)3

This mode can feel punchy and provides the best deep tissue massage, especially at the lowest speed and on small muscle groups.

In this mode, the dual heads move explosively. Once they have traveled the 10mm, there is a micro-pause before changing direction, and rapidly, you get a second intense hit.

Personally, I found this mode to help alleviate my tennis elbow by targeting the trigger points in my triceps.

Kica 3: Slide Button
Speed adjustment – slider button.

Kneading mode (100 – 900 RPM)

In this setting, the dual massage heads in the KiCA move slowly, gently, and continuously, creating a pressure wave on the skin that moves from one head to the other.

Heidi enjoys using it on the neck area because she doesn’t like the punchiness and high vibrations from other standard massage guns on her tight shoulders and neck.

Instead, she feels the muscle relaxing in kneading mode without feeling vibrations on her head.

The Ergonomics On The KiCA3

The KiCA 3 massage gun handle is not long; your hand will cover most of it. That’s not bad because most of its weight is on the upper part of the muscle massager, so you don’t have to press too hard on the muscles.

Also, if the handle were longer, it would put more tension on your wrist, and you’d quickly be tired.

Our preferences are angled handles like we have seen on Ekrin Athletics massage guns, but KiCA compensates for this with its outstanding performance and three unique massage modes. KiCA has balanced this weakness.

KiCA 3 Performance Overview

When we first found this small massage gun on the market, we thought it would be just another one, but the KiCA 3 proved us wrong! Let’s find out why.

How Far the KiCA 3 Head Travels: Amplitude Details

We find a 12-13 mm amplitude to be a sweet spot as when combined with a decent stall force and a high-end RPM, it becomes more percussive than vibrational4.

The KiCA K3 Double Head Massage Gun has only a 10 mm amplitude, but thanks to its unique massage modes, it can become a percussion massager, mimic kneading massage, or provide vibrational therapy.

Having a dual head means that the treated muscle area is enlarged. This area would be the same as the one covered by a large massage gun attachment on a single head. The difference is in the alternation of the heads and a smaller area of the heads to add intensity.

KiCA 3 measured amplitude
We used a digital caliper to confirm KiCA’s 10mm amplitude.

Superior Stall Force

Well, this aspect was a surprise. We have tested several small and mini massage guns with up to 12mm amplitude and okay stall force.

The KiCA 3 uses a strong brushless motor that can hardly be stopped (see it yourself on our video above at 1:20). We couldn’t find the motor specifications, but we estimate it produces more than 60 lbs of force!

In the mini massage category, we have experienced up to 35 lbs stall force on the Ekrin Bantam. Surprisingly, we tested full-sized muscle massagers with less force than the Ekrin Athletics mini!

Setting the KiCA 3 on percussion mode (50 – 450 RPM) provided the best deep tissue massage a small muscle massager can provide. As explained above, each head accelerates fast, punches, pauses, retrieves, and then repeats the cycle.

When I tried it on my shoulders, I could really feel the KiCA 3 getting deep into the muscle as if it were bony knuckles. The muscle relief afterward felt great.

Are PPM and RPM the same on the KiCA 3?

We explained the massage mode configurations and the different motor RPM ranges above.

Something interesting to note is that we specified the RPM for the motor transmitted to a single head, but if we would talk about percussions per minute (PPM) on the same muscle area, then we have to count the number of hits in a minute.

The table below shows this difference:

Massage mode
Motor range
(RPM)
Percussion Frequency (Times/min):
Vibration mode:500-26001000-5200
Kneading mode:100-900200-1800
Percussion mode:50-450100-900

How noisy is KiCA 3?

In this department, we were not disappointed. We were flabbergasted at how quiet the KiCA 3 double-head massage gun is.

At the lowest speed and in any of the massage modes, the noise remains below 30 dB. When in kneading mode, you can hardly tell the device is on unless you look at it. The percussive mode, being more explosive, generates a bit more noise.

When at the highest RPMs and in percussion mode, the noise coming from the muscle massager is still below 30 dB.

How long does the battery last?

The FeiyuTech KiCA 3 Massage Gun can last up to 20 hours. Those are the results the manufacturer obtained after testing it at the lowest demanding conditions, which were:

  • Using the gentle flat head, the smoothest kneading mode and at the lowest speed of 100 RPM

I have used the KiCA 3 mainly in the percussion mode, pressing it hard and at medium speed to get a deep tissue massage. This is the most power-demanding mode as it has an explosive move.

When using the KiCa 3 regularly in percussion mode over two weeks, the battery lasted about 90 minutes in these conditions.

If you would prefer to use it in the vibration or kneading mode, it should last many more hours.

KiCA 3 | Mini Massage Gun Alternatives

Here, we’d like to present you with some KiCA 3 alternatives. Some were selected because they are part of a fancy reknown brand. Others are more ergonomic and lower priced.

Theragun Fan’s Option

If you’re a Theragun fan looking for a travel-friendly massage gun, the Theragun Mini 2.0 is a solid pick. Weighing just 1.1 lbs, it’s compact but powerful for its size. It offers a 12mm amplitude, which is above average in the mini category, though the ~20 lbs stall force means it’s better suited for relaxation than deep tissue work.

Its triangular shape makes it unique, but the grip—held between your thumb and fingers—can feel less ergonomic over time. You get three attachments, all semi-spherical with varying firmness, the smallest mimicking a thumb for targeted pressure.

Theragun Mini 2nd Gen.

The Mini 2.0 is a basic entry-level massage gun. It lacks extra features like a U-shaped or scraper head, LCD display, or pressure sensors (unlike competitors like the KiCA). It runs at 1750–2400 PPM with 3 speeds. While the Mini 3.0 is quieter, thanks to motor updates, the Mini 2.0 still hits around 60 dB.

Depending on the generation (Theragun Mini 2.0 or 3.0), their price range is $150 – $210, and they have a one-year warranty.

Ekrin Bantam | Affordable Option

If you want a portable massage gun, the KiCA 3 is compact, but if your carry-on’s weight restricts you, a lighter mini massage gun would be more convenient.

The Ekrin Bantam5 is a lightweight mini massage gun, weighing just 1.1 lbs (vs KiCA’s 1.35 lbs). It features a ~9mm amplitude and an impressive 35 lbs stall force, making it stronger than most in its class. The 15° angled handle adds excellent ergonomics, reducing wrist strain during use.

It charges via USB-C, which is super convenient—just plug it into a laptop, phone charger, or TV port. Expect over 5 hours of battery life on the lowest speed with no pressure, or around 2 hours with regular use.

Compact and travel-friendly, you can bring the Ekrin Bantam in your carry-on bag without sacrificing space. It’s a great choice for power, portability, and simplicity.

The Bantam includes four attachments to target different muscle groups. It’s easy to operate with a single button at the base for power and speed control, alongside an LED battery indicator.

Ekrin Kestrel | Most Versatile Option

If you want a more versatile massage gun, the Ekrin Kestrel is a strong contender. It’s a premium full-size device with a 13mm amplitude, ~56 lbs stall force, and speeds up to 3500 PPM.

It delivers both vibration therapy at lower speeds and near-percussive therapy when pushed above 3200 RPM with pressure—ideal for both light and deep massages.

The top wheel control lets you power the device on/off and switch speeds. LED indicators show current intensity and battery level. The 15° angled handle adds great ergonomics, while the non-slip metallic bezel improves grip for hard-to-reach spots.

It comes with six attachments, including a soft head for sensitive or bony areas like joints or sore muscles.

Despite its power, the Kestrel stays quiet—topping out at 64 dB. Best of all, it’s backed by a lifetime warranty, making it one of the most reliable choices on the market.

Final Verdict: Is the KiCA 3 Massage Gun Worth It?

The KiCA 3 definitely surprised us with its versatility, slick appearance, and overall performance.

Its three distinctive massage modes, the option of selecting multiple speeds thanks to a slide button, and an extremely quiet massage gun make it one of our favorites.

The speed range is incredible: It starts very low at 50 RPM (or 100 PPM) and goes up to 2600 RPM (or 5200 PMM). If desired, the KiCA 3 can provide percussion therapy or a more vibrational one.

The dual head concept is also quite innovative and has been demonstrated to effectively treat a muscle area. In kneading mode and at low speeds, it mimics the pressure and movement of thumbs digging into the muscle.

For those who cannot tolerate vibration around the head area, we found the KiCA 3 a great solution at a very low speed when treating sore neck and shoulders.
